A Foreign Trade Zone (FTZ) is a restricted access site authorized by the Foreign Trade Zones Board, which consists of the Secretary of Commerce and the Secretary of the Treasury. FTZs, upon activation under regulations of the U.S. Customs Service, are secured areas under U.S. Customs supervision and are located in or near a U.S. Customs recognized port of entry. Customs entry procedures do not apply even though FTZs are within the territory and jurisdiction of the United States. FTZ 126 is located in northwest Nevada, centered off the International Customs Port in Reno, Nevada. Our zone has been approved for Alternative Site Framework (ASF), providing maximum flexibility to potential zone users. Property covered includes southern Washoe County, all of Storey, Carson, and Douglas Counties, northern Lyon County, and western Churchill County; roughly 5000 square miles of available FTZ space. ASF designation allows potential users the flexibility of location, as well as quick approval for zone activity. We are the designated administrator on behalf of the Grantee, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada;(EDAWN).
